There will be three exciting and significant changes to the POLAR program in 2018.
1. Web-based POLAR
The POLAR program will become
web-based, which means all users can access POLAR from any workstation. Please
note, this will only be available within the practice environment and not on
offsite devices due to privacy reasons.
2. New POLAR extraction tool
A new extraction tool
will replace Grhanite, this has been developed by Outcome Health and will allow
for seamless integration. All practices will be contacted from late January to
the end of March 2018 by Outcome Health to organise the remote installation of
the new POLAR program. Practices will be able to continue to use the POLAR
program during the roll-out.
3. New practice consent for de-identified data to
be used for research
With practice owners consent, Eastern Melbourne PHN
(EMPHN) will be updating the POLAR Agreement to include the use of data for
research purposes. Please note: If a practice does not agree to their data
being used for research, the practice will still have access to POLAR under
their existing agreement.
Practices using or waiting for Polar installations will be receiving a letter in the next week.
