Is your Practice connecting to the National Cancer Screening Register?

18 December, 2023

There are currently 148 practices in the EMPHN region that have integrated their MedicalDirector Clinical, Best Practice and Communicare systems with the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) and are seeing the benefits of being able to access and submit their patient’s bowel and cervical screening data directly from within their patient record. This integration allows clinicians to identify under-screened and never-screened patients, manage patient participation in screening programs, request replacement test kits, receive timely notifications for overdue screenings, and send digital program forms—all from within a patient record.

For practices that are yet to integrate, there is an expert team ready to assist any practice wishing to integrate their system. If you’re ready to integrate, you can book in some time with one of the NCSR team who will take you through the registration process and help you get set up.

For practices that are not using MedicalDirector Clinical, Best Practice and Communicare systems, there is still a way to access and submit your patients’ cervical and bowel screening data online.

Healthcare providers can link the NCSR Healthcare Provider Portal to their PRODA account. Patient screening information can be accessed securely through the portal by using either your Medicare Provider Number, by requesting access as a delegate of a provider, or applying for a Register Identifier Number.

The integration of the National Cancer Screening Register with clinical systems that providers use every day is helping to improve efficiency, providing healthcare professionals with the tools they need to enhance patient care, maximise participation in screening programs, and contribute to early detection and improved health outcomes.
