Diamond Creek Medical Centre continues to play its part in meeting the needs of the local community during the pandemic.
As well as administering COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations, the centre also provides daily swabbing and physical assessment in a purpose-built COVID-19 consulting room.
The centre was assigned to commence in Week 3 of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout on 5 April 2021, with an allocation of 50 doses per week. When provided the opportunity to increase their supply, they gladly accepted the challenge and as a result, have been working hard to increase vaccination numbers to meet the increased demand, running clinics Tuesday to Friday and vaccinating 30-40 patients at a time with one doctor and a nurse.
For a small clinic with limited staffing hours the team have managed to vaccinate the following:
Time | COVID 19 AZ | Influenza | Total |
1 month | 430 | 244 | 674 |
3 months | 860 | 935 | 1694 |
Patient cohort | COVID-19 vaccinations administered | % of cohort |
50-59 | 100 | 32% |
60-69 | 205 | 53% |
70+ | 432 | 78% |
Total | 737 | 60% |
Nurse In Charge Crystal Barbedo says "It’s a juggling act and requires a team effort to be sure, so far, we are very proud of our accomplishments." Amazing efforts team!
