GPs can now access Best Care guidance from Safer Care Victoria (SCV) on HealthPathways, to support them at the point of care.

SCV’s Best Care guidance identifies 26 surgical procedures which can only be performed in the public health system under certain circumstances or at certain time intervals. These include some for ear, nose and throat, endoscopy, gynaecology, and orthopaedics. The guidance encourages GPs, other healthcare clinicians and consumers to make joint decisions by considering the clinical evidence, detailing the benefits and risks associated with particular surgeries, the health outcomes that matter to the consumer, and alternatives care options available.

GPs can find the latest evidence and information by visiting HealthPathways Melbourne or see here to learn more about HealthPathways and to gain a login.
