AOD GP Education Program

The Commonwealth government has funded the RACGP and ACRRM to provide Alcohol and Other Drugs education to their members.

The program aims to strengthen the capacity of GPs to address alcohol and other drug use in their communities. Incentive payments are available for members.

RACGP’s program includes diverse modes of delivery including face-to-face virtual environments, online learning modules and small group online webinars and mentoring series. Members can select and apply for the mode of training that best suits them. The Program has been structured around Essential Skills, Treatment Skills and Advanced Skills Training and is underpinned by AOD Connect: Project ECHO, a community of practice where GPs can discuss AOD cases and seek support from their peers and AOD experts.

Treatment Skills and Advanced Skills Training attracts an incentive payment for eligible RACGP members. The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine’s (ACRRM) Drug and Alcohol Addiction Education (DAAE) Program includes a suite of incentivised activities to strengthen the capacity of General Practitioners to address drug and alcohol addiction in their communities. These training activities include workshops (face-to-face and online), an online learning course and webinars with subject matter experts, supported by resources for General Practitioners to use in their practice.

Each activity attracts individual incentive payments for eligible ACRRM members, and can be done separately; however, it is strongly recommended that you to complete the full suite of activities. Visit the ACRRM website for more information about the DAAE program and to register.
