Eastern Melbourne PHN was delighted to welcome Federal Minister for Health & Ageing, Mark Butler, MP to join health sector colleagues from around Australia (other PHN CEOs) and those most focused on our local communities of east and north east Melbourne at an event in Box Hill today.
Minister Butler spoke to the recently announced Budget reforms, particularly those relating to the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce report outcomes, and his desire to see innovation used across a variety of measures.
‘Gentle and probing’ Q&A followed with guests able to raise opportunities and questions directly with the Minister.
Following the Minister, a panel comprising EMPHN Chair, and member of the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce, Professor Stephen Duckett, local GP and EMPHN Board Director Dr Kelly Huang and Anna Robinson, CEO of Access Health and Community, and facilitated by EMPHN CEO, Janine Wilson, were able to delve deeper into some of the opportunities arising from the Budget.
