Former consumers of PIR, PHaMs and D2DL programs

Please advise your patients that psychosocial support services are available now for people with severe mental illness, including consumers who were former participants of PIR, PHaMs and D2DL programs and who are not currently supported by the NDIS.

Consumers who are former participants of PIR, PHaMs and D2DL will be supported to test their eligibility for the NDIS over the next few months.

If a consumer is found ineligible for the NDIS, they will be supported to receive the new Psychosocial Support Service, delivered by Neami National.

For consumers who do not have psychosocial supports in place

For patients who are not linked in with any psychosocial supports, there are new options available to them.

Some consumers with severe mental illness may receive psychosocial supports from a community mental health organisation linked to their Local Hospital Network/Area Mental Health Service. These psychosocial supports are funded by the State of Victoria under their Early Intervention Psychosocial Support Response (EIPSR).

Other consumers with severe mental illness, who have no links with PIR, PhaMs, D2DL programs or local clinical services, and are not supported by the NDIS, may also receive appropriate supports from the Psychosocial Support Service delivered by Neami National.

What do we mean by ‘psychosocial supports’?

Psychosocial supports can include finding a home or work, looking after physical and mental health, connecting to the community, and developing social skills and friendships.
