Practice Incentive Program (PIP) Quality Improvement (QI)

In the 2016/2017 Federal Budget, the Commonwealth Department of Health announced a change to the Practice Incentive Program (PIP) and will be introducing a new system.

As of May 1 2019, the PIP QI Incentive will encourage general practices to undertake quality improvement activities. This will:

  • give general practices increased flexibility
  • improve their detection and management of a range of chronic conditions
  • focus on issues specific to their practice population.

A key component of the PIP QI Incentive will encourage general practice to collect and review practice data to drive continuous quality improvement activities. To assist general practice in this transition of change and to support data cleansing activities, EMPHN have developed a POLAR practice report. For further information, refer to EMPHN Practice Data Quality Report.

This report is generated using POLAR GP, an analytical and reporting tool, that enables meaningful exploration by general practices of their patient data. For further information on POLAR GP, please refer EMPHN website.

EMPHN will keep practices up to date regarding the new PIP QI Incentive as information becomes available.
