This session will explore reasons for the high rates of suicide especially among older adults and discuss ways of identifying suicidal patients. Risk assessment tools and safety planning strategies that can be implemented at a primary care level will be discussed.
A light supper will be provided.
This interactive session will explore:
· reasons for high suicide rates in older people
· methods of identifying suicidal patients at the primary care level
· risk assessments at a primary care level for suicidal patients
· safety planning that can be put into place for at-risk patients
