The identification of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status can have a significant positive impact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes, enhance cultural safety, and ensure that patients can access appropriate pathways to care and support.

For GPs, GP clinic staff, specialists and specialist clinic staff, other health service providers including optometrists and community health centres and anyone providing community or health services.

The aim of this workshop is to discuss the importance of and why it is mandatory to ask the question of every patient: 'Are you of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent?'
