16 August, 2019

The Australian Government’s Department of Health has released a fact sheet which provides general practices with new details about the Practice Incentive Payment Quality Improvement (PIP QI) incentive payment.

The PIP QI Fact Sheet includes:

  • information about the PIP eligible data set
  • how practices can meet the data sharing eligibility requirements of the PIP QI Incentive.

Providing data for PIP QI

To participate in PIP QI, general practices need to securely transfer PIP QI data to their local PHN.

EMPHN funds POLAR as our data extraction software tool of choice to support quality improvement and population health planning in general practices in our catchment. Practices submitting deidentified data through POLAR are meeting their PIP QI data submission requirement.

PHNs are working with the Department of Health on a solution for receiving data from general practices that cannot exchange data with their local PHN because they do not currently have compatible software or who do not want to use the software offered by their PHN. Refer to section eight of the fact sheet for further information.

EMPHN is providing workshops to assist practices with PIP QI. See details below.
