Nurse immuniser course – Are you interested?

29 May, 2018

Eastern Melbourne PHN (EMPHN) is offering to support 20 general practice nurses to become nurse immunisers. The aim is to build the number of nurse immunisers in the EMPHN catchment, particularly in areas with low immunisation rates.

Considerations prior to applying:

  • Are you a Registered Nurse (Div 1) currently working in a general practice within the EMPHN catchment?
  • Does your workplace support you becoming a nurse immuniser and undertaking this role in your practice?

The course will commence on approximately 29 June 2018 for 20 weeks. Course places are limited to 20 registered nurses working in general practices in the EMPHN catchment. Applications are welcome from all practice nurses working in the EMPHN catchment, however, nurses working in the cities of Manningham, Monash and Shire Yarra Ranges will be prioritised due to their lower rates of immunisation. Participants who complete the course have the option to undertake a clinical competency assessment. For more information, please see the Clinical Competency Assessment Guide (PDF 266KB)

Understanding vaccines and the National Immunisation Program, is supplied by SA Health and is an online course. It is recognised by the Victorian Chief Health Officer as meeting the requirements for a nurse immuniser education program in Victoria.

EMPHN will provide an online forum for participants to connect with other participants, and run two workshops during the duration of the 20 week course.

To apply, please complete the online form. Applications close Thursday 14 June at 4.00pm. Successful applicants will be notified by 27 June 2018.
