For consumers seeking help

Head to Health is for anyone of any age experiencing emotional distress, mental ill-health and/or addiction along with their families and carers.

Even if you already have a mental health treatment plan or other supports, or if this is the first time you have asked for support, Head to Health is here for you.

Call Head to Health 1800 595 212 Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm or visit the website.

What type of support does the Head to Health service provide?

Each hub has a multidisciplinary team from a variety of professional backgrounds including GPs, psychologists, mental health workers such as mental health nurses, social workers and alcohol and drug workers, who can support people onsite at a hub, through telehealth or referral to other services. Depending on a person’s needs, they may:

  • be connected with suitable existing services
  • receive care at the hubs, either onsite or through telehealth, as well as other existing services
  • be connected to specialist or acute mental health services, including into emergency care or into an area of mental health triage.

Information for GPs

Head to Health is an additional service option to help you manage the number of patients who are experiencing mental health issues at this time. The 1800 595 212 intake service helps you and your patients navigate to the appropriate level of mental health and wellbeing support, depending on a person’s needs and goals.

Even if GPs have great networks and well used referral pathways, Head to Health provides an additional referral pathway to find the most suitable mental health support for your patients, or if you are perhaps not sure what mental health service will suit a patient best.

GPs and other mental health providers can refer someone in their care. Head to Health provides care navigation, access to a multidisciplinary mental health team at the hubs and a team-care approach, to complement and supplement GP care.
